I was in the mood for a light contemporary romance and this fit the bill.
Amusingly, as I was reading it I had to keep almost double-checking that in this book the heroine is actually (apparently) gorgeous and completely confident - at least about her looks.
It strikes me that this is not so frequently the case - often in contemporary romance the heroine has an issue which the hero ends up actually appreciating and eventually helping her to accept - not just his love, but herself.
Some of the other characters, especially Paulie, are not quite so fortunate, and surprisingly much is made of her lack of standard attractiveness. The friendship between the two rather surprised me, as it seemed they moved from old highschool acquaintances, where the heroine felt a bit guilty at not having treated her better at the time, to best friends at supersonic speed. Maybe I missed a beat.
An entertaining read, sans plus.
