It's rather unusual that the book prominently declares itself a romance, because most people will likely be turned off the idea of a 25-year-old librarian being in a romance with an eleven-year-old boy on his first visit to the library. In truth, most of the time Peggy cares for James in a motherly way, but there is always an undertone of something a bit inappropriate, along with a tinge of sadness, for the lonely characters that the author did a great job portraying.
