Blurb: 'Eleanor & Park reminded me not just what it's like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it's like to be young and in love with a book' John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars

Eleanor is the new girl in town, and with her chaotic family life, her mismatched clothes and unruly red hair, she couldn't stick out more if she tried.

Park is the boy at the back of the bus. Black T-shirts, headphones, head in a book — he thinks he's made himself invisible. But not to Eleanor . . . never to Eleanor.

Slowly, steady, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix-tapes, Eleanor and Park fall for each other. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you're young, and you feel as if you have nothing and everything to lose.

'A breathless and achingly good read about love and outsiders' Stephanie Perkins, author of Anna and the French Kiss

"Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits-smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you'll remember your own first love-and just how hard it pulled you under."

Breath takingly brilliant. Seems on the nail for those skin-tingling first intimate encounter moments, and what swirling thoughts were flowing through on inside of these heads. On an equally serious topic the handling of the violence behind closed doors was so sensitively balanced this was both riveting and informative.

Got to an Oh, OMG this is going to get to a truly messed up and dangerous, fever pitch point, on a couple of occasions. When I actually found myself halting my reading till in the mood to tackle the challenge of discovering how bad things get for Eleanor and Park. So yes, this deals with uncomfortable topics and is heart-breaking but yet there's an element of hope of brighter days.

Wonderful writing, cannot recommend highly enough!

Can see why many may like to have a clearer resolve on completion but...
I really appreciated the way in which the book just stopped. It was something I understood added to the scope of the book. It was an opportunity for the characters and situation to feel distressing, messy, and real and also in its quiet abruptness it was a point that demanded the reader stood back and considered the situation and outcomes carefully. What constitutes a happy ending anyway? I felt there was hope there for both Eleanor and Park to learn to enjoy life again.
