A beautiful read but I took my time with this and found that as I read on, it began to deeply affect me. The book is a reminder for us not to take life for granted. We need to cherish our loved ones who are not with us for long, as our time here is short and nothing is permanent. I found the descriptions of both village and town life in Korea interesting. Also noted the role of the women, both the mother and her children and how they perceived their lives and roles in society. I found the points of view from the four different narrators very effective. It was an emotional read, especially as I got to the end. I will not forget this book for a long time.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This book is wrapped up as a Kris Kringle surprise gift for a Bookclub friend. We are having our Christmas get together at Tonic and Ginger tonight. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did. I have included a note in the book that says:
Merry Christmas and Wishing you Lots of Good Reading for 2022 and always.
I chose this book as a gift because:
-It is one of my favourite reads this year
-It is beautifully written and made me reflect on my own journey with my mum
-There are four narrators and their different perspectives are honest and insightful
-The book has many themes, including family, love and loss, motherhood, honour and integrity, all of which interest me
-We get a glimpse into Korean society (The book is translated from Korean to English)
-It reminds us not to take life and the people we love for granted as we are not here for very long.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
