I see this book, a recent favorite of mine, is on a friend's wishlist. I will send it as soon as I can.
These amazing stories enchanted me with their rich observation. R.K. Narayan was one of the first Indian novelists to write in English and touch the English-speaking world. Each story here is filled with insight, humor and love. The rich world and characters Narayan creates in these brief tales make for wondrous storytelling. I want to read all of his work now and to immerse myself in his fictional Malgudi, which, though very rooted in its time and place, is universal.

This little book, one of the Penguin 60s series published in 1995, has held up very well. Originally it belonged to a Mrs. Mackenzie in Edinburgh. It made its way to Georgia in the United States and now it is bound for Australia--that's a world-reaching journey. I am fulfilling a wish from my friend readinghelps with this release. A blessed Christmas and a Happy New year readinghelps to you and yours!

Received yesterday, along with a beautiful Christmas card. Thank you! I look forward to reading this. Apparently this book inpsired Alexander McCall Smith to write his 'No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency' Series. Currently, I am reading The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.

An intriguing little collection of stories. I can see the seed of 'No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency' in here, for sure.
Next I plan to read Dubliners, by James Joyce.

Thanks for the RABCK, readinghelps. Looks interesting.
Thanks for the extra book too.

Ten short tales detailing incidents in the lives of the inhabitants of the fictional town of Malgudi. Wonderfully rich despite their brevity, and not a dud among them.
Thank you readinghelps, for introducing me to this author.
