This book is a present from the Scottish Book Trust to celebrate Book Week Scotland 2021.

We all love to celebrate. Whether it's getting together to mark a milestone, toasting the end of a difficult week without friends or just remembering to take the bins out, celebration is a huge part of our everyday lives - giving us space to reflect on what we've achieved and what's important to us. From rescuing a baby seal after deciding to break out of a comfort zone, to paying tribute to a life of a loved one, and even basking in the glory of a Friday night fish supper: this collection highlights the transcendent power of celebration, reminding us that our journey - and our stories - matter. These true stories have been written by people across Scotland reflecting the theme of Celebration, as part of Scottish Book Trust's annual Your Stories project.

There is always a little gem in these books and this year, for me, it was the story of Dobble in A Sealabration.

I don't think Poppywalker spotted that this was for her. I have rescued it and will send it on to her if you wish me to.

I just rediscovered this book today. It had somehow migrated into the stock for our church bookstall. It must have fallen into the wrong box at home.

We all received copies of these in our welcome pack at the wonderful Falkirk Convention, so I still have one to read.

Thank you very much for another good collection of books! It was lovely to see you both today. Let's hope it's not so long before we meet again . . .

Journal Entry 8 by wingNu-Kneeswing at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, September 12, 2023
A short collection of short, some Very short, short stories, apparently true, full of memories, impressions and thoughts etc.

I found most of them interesting, was pleased that the two in Gaelic were followed by an English translation, but really struggled with the ones that used some sort of phonetic approximation to depict accents/dialects: that approach never works for me, I can't decode them!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I was disappointed with my first visit to this overcrowded phone box, higgeldy-piggeldy piles of books falling over as I tried to look at the titles, so I doubt I'll make a habit of it . . . but I did squeeze in a couple of replacements for the ones I took . . .
