The Book Charmer
6 journalers for this copy...
Sarah Dove is no ordinary bookworm. To her, books live, breathe, and sometimes even speak. As the librarian in her quaint Southern town of Dove Pond, her gift helps place every book in the hands of the perfect reader. Recently, however, the books have been whispering about something out of the ordinary: the arrival of a displaced city girl named Grace Wheeler.
If the books are right, Grace could be the savior Dove Pond desperately needs. The problem is, Grace wants little to do with the town or its quirky residentsâSarah chief among them. But with a bit of urging, and the help of an especially wise book, will Grace ultimately embrace the challenge to rescue her charmed new community?

I felt a bit like Grace.. At the beginning I had a slightly hard time with Dove Pond. Especially Sarah was a little too needy for my taste. But the town and the people grew on me and in the end I felt like I was living among them.
I am fond of small towns.
And I liked the characters.. Above all Mama G.!
I very much enjoyed the element of magic which was the main reason I chose this book. I really love S. A. Allen's books and have yet to find an author who is as good as her. K. Hawkins comes close, but still..
S. A. Allen style has a certain easiness which is just perfect.
Anyway, there was a preview at the end of this book and since there were also quite some loose ends I guess I have to get the second novel đ

This rings arrives here safely in France, thanks so much for sending. Very spiffy little bookmarks too, thanks!
Another book or two to read before I can tackle this one, but I'll try to get to it soon.

This is here as a bookcrossing ring and this was the first contemporary I've read by this author.
After having read it I saw that I was not the only person to compare this to books by Sarah Addison Allen- which in my opinion is an excellent standard.
I occasionally found Grace's rigidity annoying, just as Sarah's sweetness could be a bit cloying, but on the whole I very much enjoyed this story with a touch of magic- or specialness.
I gather there's to be a sequel, and hope that this ring can turn out to be a spiral!
Thanks so much for making this available. I'll try to send it on soon.

This leaves central France and heads up the road a little bit. Hope you enjoy this as I did, all the best. Thanks again, Kiki, for sharing a fun book!

Happy reading !
Arrived today, thank you. Will have to wait its turn though ;-)
Oh, I got to it quicker than I thought and also read it much quicker than anticipated. :-) It's a nice and light weekend read with quite some charm even though some of it is a bit cliché. But a bit of cozy small town charm can be quite nice in times like these. ;-) Thanks for letting me join.
Will contact the next reader for the address.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Travels on to the next reader.
This has now arrived safely in Edinburgh. It is next on my reading pile, so I should get it travelling again very soon.
I enjoyed this gentle tale of the slightly magical Sarah Dove and her hometown. Just the kind of gentle comfort read I was looking for. I liked the characters and the glimpse of small town life. Thank you for sharing kiki66.
And off it goes to mcsar as the next on the list. Happy reading!
The book arrived some days ago. Sorry it took me so long to journal. If I am still the last on the list, I will check, I may not start the book right away as I still have a few bookcrossing commitments to take care of first.
PS. Thank you for the great bookmark. Love it ;)
