I enjoyed her second book more. I guess doing an epic journey, to a schedule and in support of a worthy cause, doesn't allow for too much time for retrospection or permit a sense of place to form. I'm a much slower traveller - even when I'm reading!

While, like Yogiberri, I enjoyed Spudβs second book more, I found this book very readable. The Spudtruck was a character in itself.

Determined to do her bit towards solving the homelessness crisis, Spud sets out on an epic 4500 mile walk around the full coastline of England, Scotland and Wales accompanied only by faithful dog Tess, and a series of drivers of the dilapidated Spudtruck which is her home each night. It's an amazing feat which Spud makes light of in her humorous style. Covering the whole coastline in a 250 page book meant that many places barely get a mention, which is a shame, but the descriptions of different parts of the coastline are great and the reader sees Spud build a connection to the countryside, and an enjoyment of nature. If only more people shared Spud's attitude that all problems can be solved if we help each other.
