The Drowning Spool (Needlecraft, Bk 17)
2 journalers for this copy...
It's all about the smoothness of technique,
whether it's the slash of a murder
or a punch of thread and needle moving.

This lucky little book has become part of a mini-trade! :)
May it provide some fun and entertainment with it's new reader! ;)

The box of trade books arrived today - many thanks for knocking off so many of my wishlist books at once! I've enjoyed many of the books in this series, and am glad to finally have a copy of this one.
Later: This one picks up after the events of And Then You Dye, though the books are largely stand-alone. The plot here involves the discovery of a young woman, drowned, in the therapy pool at a seniors care center, where Betsy has been giving classes in a simple punch-needle form of crafting. I admit that this book struck me as less interesting than most from the get-go - not sure why, though the tone seemed a bit brittle and the plotting a bit heavy-handed. There's a chaotic sequence near the end where several plot-threads are going on at once, including one where Godwin and his boyfriend Rafael are staking out a suspect - and enjoying a little picnic as they do so {wry grin} - and while it does convey a sense of tension and liveliness, it still didn't quite work, IMO. Oh, and the solution to the mystery was a rather convoluted yet not terribly interesting one, so all in all not my favorite of the series.
The series continues with Darned if You Do, which I liked better, so maybe this was a one-off! (Though I do give the author credit for emphasizing some of the problems of running a small business, especially the scene in which customers browse the store's goods - and then whip out their phones to order things cheaper online. Sigh!)
