As I opened this book and started flicking through, I realized that I have read the artist's work before, although only shorter pieces. (For example, I had seen the closing story online, I think through the author's blog?) It was nice to explore in more depth. The fairy-tale, alternate-history styling works well to explore some dark aspects of humanity. Some of these stories have clear inspiration from specific folktales, others were less recognizable to me.

There were a few stumbling transitions in the art, which rarely follows a "traditional" comic layout. However, given the number of pages, that is impressive. There will always be times where the artist and the reader's eyes travel differently in this style.
