The Room in the Tower and Other Ghost Stories

"Three stories, three ghosts. There is a dangerous woman in a picture in a room in a tower. A young woman marries an older man and arrives at his house. But his dead wife is still there. A dead man walks through a house every night because he wants the people there to catch his killer. Sometimes the dead return..."

I had some free time this morning, and decided to give this little book a go... and I thoroughly enjoyed these three stories!
The simplified style of writing made me remember the books I used when I was first learning English as a foreign student... good old memories!
And the three short stories are great old-fashioned ghost tales, really enjoyable, and most adequate for Halloween.
A little book that will soon continue its travel to another lucky reader who will be pleasantly scared. :)

Sent today to my partner in the Samhain Medieval Exchange... partly Samhain and partly Halloween! :)

One book fo My Samhain present 2021.
I am really looking forward to read it ...
Three very nice ghost stories.

I'm not a big fan of short stories or ghost stories but these were quick to read and varied. I went to the house in Rye where EF Benson lived. It didn't have a tower as far as I remember!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Going into my replacement Mixed Fiction Bookbox as the original Bookbox has stalled.

Read from the Mixed Fiction Bookbox, but left in to travel further.
Three very short and easily read ghost stories. I am not a great fan of ghost stories but these were very accessible even for a non fan! All 3 had a resolution (of a suitable sort). I do think this would make a suitable short book for Halloween but as I have not joined in those for the last 4 years - mostly because this is not a favoured genre for me, I will leave this to travel further in the Bookbox.

Taken from the Short Fiction Bookbox... can't resist a ghost story 👻

Well this came out of the Short Fiction Bookbox yesterday, was read & has gone straight back in the box to find another reader. So what did I think of it?.....
"The Woman in the Black Coat" I found reasonably creepy & one that I think would be ideal for BBC4's Christmas ghost story that's usually shown on Christmas Eve.
"Imray Came Back" was more of a mystery & my least favourite of the three.
"The Room in the Tower" was a creepyish tale where adream nightmare comes true but I felt it was a bit rushed in its ending.
These book of three short stories are actually aimed at younger readers or those for whom English is a second language. No matter, whoever they're aimed they're an eerie trio & I passed a very happy half an hour in their company.
