Sue Perkins, when she isn't being omnipresent on our TV screens, is much less "cuddly" than her National Treasure status suggests. In fact, she is very sharp and funny, from her description of a male hamster she once looked after as a child ('like two beanbags attached to a pipe cleaner') to the ancient South African landlady she once had ('Half the time I had the sneaking suspicion she was being played by Barry Humphries'). This memoir serves as a reminder that people who don't soften up their sharp edges don't get given daytime TV slots.
