Cora is a slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. Life is hell for all the slaves, but especially bad for Cora; an outcast even among her fellow Africans, she is coming into womanhood—where even greater pain awaits. When Caesar, a recent arrival from Virginia, tells her about the Underground Railroad, they decide to take a terrifying risk and escape.
I had wanted to read this book for such a long time and when I did I really liked it. It was touching and terrible. I learned things about the slavery and the liberation that I didn't know and the twist with the actual rail road was both thrilling and imaginative. I also came to think about Toni Morrisons book Beloved several times during the reading. This story will stay with me for a long time.

Sounds like an interesting but hard read.
Yes, a very good, captivating and educational story. I liked it a lot. It wasn't as emotionally hard as I thought it would be.

Can't wait to read it :)
I started reading this book at the beginning of the year and it took me until this morning to finish it. I feel really bad for the book because with the lack of time I only ever read a few pages at once, my mind was preoccupied and I couldn't really get into it. :/
I would have preferred to read this book some other time but to be honest back in January I thought it would be a good time. :D I had no idea life would be so busy and exhausting these past weeks.
