In a bag of books given to me by a friend but not my cup of tea.
Thanks for this kind rabck dolph1n. I'm not much of a chicklit reader usually, but make an exception for Marian Keyes as her plotting can be fiendishly clever.
A very readable (if bloated) novel. The structure was clever; with the fateful dinner conversation that later explodes several plot threads simultaneously featuring right in the book's opening pages. It felt very intriguing, and I enjoyed racing through the book to find out how things came to that point. Keyes' characters were as ever, more complex than they first appeared. Cara and Liam in particular caught my imagination, for different reasons. In both cases, aspects of their personalities emerged slowly and this moved the plot along nicely.
After all that build up though, the novel's ending unfortunately was something of a damp squib in my opinion. It just felt very... meh. OK, but unexciting. But I'll wait for future readers to give their thoughts on that also.
