I read another copy of this book in 2012. This is what I wrote after I read it...

Little Bee is the name of a young girl from Nigeria who ends up in England as an illegal immigrant. She has the address of a man, Andrew, whom she met in Nigeria and learns how to get to his house, thinking that he might be able to help her out. Reading this story, we come to learn the reasons behind that man's having been in Nigeria as well as the unfortunate circumstances regarding him seeing her again.

What I especially liked about this story was that the protagonist was from Nigeria. Despite the many people I know from that country, I've never read a novel that has had part of its setting there. Sadly, we learn about how oil wealth has made Nigeria a dangerous place. In addition, we learn that England is not a particularly hospitable place for Nigerian refugees who, at times, are truly running for their lives.

This novel ultimately turns out to be a story of friendship, the one that grows between Little Bee and Andrew's wife, Sara. Despite the fact that the story was narrated from the points of view of Little Bee and Sara, I felt that there could have been much more depth to it. Nevertheless, it kept up my interest and made me aware of the sad fate of illegal immigrants from Nigeria to England.
