"Nothing links person to person like the frequent passage from hand to hand of a good book."

This is an old but great collection of stories by James Tiptree, Jr. (real name, Alice Bradley). In my experience, her short stories were much better than her novels.

A wandering book -- the karma of literature!

Tiptree’s stories are pretty much guaranteed to be ones I like! I admire her ability to blend complex world-building with characters who draw your empathy. I had read a couple of these stories before in other places, but most of them were new to me.

I always forget how much I enjoy James Tiptree Jr.'s writing. This collection contained quite a few stories of the author's that I had not read before. There is something about the way she writes her short stories that draws the reader in so quickly. This collection had quite a big focus on alien encounters, there were very complex social situations, and her female protagonists delt with the sexisism that was prevalent at the time Tiptree was writing. Thank you for sending this my way emmejo. I enjoyed revisiting an author I first discover as a teenager almost thirty years ago.
