bought from Le Galetas. My copy has the face of a woman on the cover. The snow scene with cabin here is more appropriate.
When the murderer is arrested 200 pages before the end, you don't need to be a detective to realise something is wrong.
A very "dépaysant" mystery taking us from Bangkok where Harry Hole is recovering from alcohol dependency by resorting to opium, to Oslo where Harry's father lays dying in hospital, to Kigali and Gouma, and the source of the atrocious murder weapon Leopold's apple (an invention of Nesbo, I looked it up), avalanches, police rivalry, memories of the Snowman, lisps, lovers, red herrings galore. But no Leopard anywhere to be seen. Why the original title, "armoured heart", wasn't kept, is a mystery. Did someone misread Leopold as leopard? Pansjerhertje, the Norwegian title, also means constrictive pericarditis, which is mentioned, but when Harry thinks about what he wants, he says an armoured heart.
Another mystery is how Harry manages to talk with a dislocated jaw.
Back cover blurb gives the wrong impression: "a killer stalks the streets of Oslo". No. Did whoever wrote that actually read the book?
j'ajoute pour les lecteurs que red herring n'est pas du hareng rouge comme dit google translate, mais une fausse piste.
