This ring (which I confess I'd forgotten about) arrived safely here in France today. I have a bookclub book I have to read before the end of the week, and another ring in front of it, but I hope to get to it soon. Thanks so much for sending and thanks for making it available.
Journal Entry 7 by penelopewanders at Saint-Loup-des Vignes, Centre France on Thursday, December 2, 2021
I just finished reading this book which is here as a bookcrossing ring, and I feel like I've been dragged over the coals. Achy physically because of my booster shot yesterday, this seems to have scraped my insides raw as well.
I suppose one important word here would be grief, as that seems to be what binds many of the characters together. How Lauren and Siri and her family live in a sort of suspended animation, fending off the unbearable in every way they can. Friendship might be a theme too, or love? But it is always very ambiguous and it seems to leave everyone (except for maybe, maybe Birgit?) gripping a handful of glass shards.
Some things left me puzzled - what are the scars on Lauren's back - from one of her unspeakable nighttime encounters? Some sort of self harm? Or cupping gone wrong?
Why is truth so very difficult for her? (I do have plenty of ideas about that...)
Why is Siri so apparently unkind to her friends? Is there more to the love hate relationship between Siri and Magnus?
This was a very intense read, and I feel drained, but it certainly got my attention.
I am currently in Switzerland but return to France next week and will send from there. Thanks so much for making this available, and thank you for sending.
Happy holidays everyone!

Happy holidays everyone!
This leaves France for Bulgaria. I hope you enjoy this and have a happy, healthy and peaceful holiday season. I wish you many wonderful stories for the new year - both on and off the page.
Thanks for making this ring available.
Thanks for making this ring available.
Book arrived safely just before the holidays. Thanks for sending, penelopewanders! It has been a long time since I participated in a bookring, so it feels really good and exciting to be back in the game :-)
Just a quick note that my daughter took on reading the book before me. She has almost finished it now so I expect to start reading in a few days, too.
I got the next participant`s address. I am going on vacation until August 10th and will send it when I come back. Sorry for the big delay!
On its way to the next participant - FraukeRo in Norway.
Unfortunately I could not tune into the book and didn`t finish it but at least my daughter did read it and liked it. Thank you for being part of the bookray!

Arrived today, thank you!
Wow, that was an intense book, and much darker than I expected. I wonder what it is about the short Swedish summer nights that inspires so much grief and turmoil? Also, I feel like I should plan a trip to Stockholm to admire the art in the subway stations in a different way.
Now on its way to Canada!
The book has arrived in Canada. I will start reading soon and get it moving again. Thanks for sending.
