This is one of those authors that I knew was supposed to be good but I don't think I've ever read anything by them. :)

So when I ran across this audiobook, I snatched it up.

I wasn't sure what to expect but it follows two women deep in poverty and their rise to height of talents together. It wasn't overdone or unrealistic but you can see their growth. They are real people with real flaws and dreams and loves.

In fact, the whole community and characters were lush and wonderful 3 dimensional people. It's one of the only fiction books in a very long time that actually fully drew me into the story so that I felt like I was there.

It was great! :)
