BORN TO RUN
2 journalers for this copy...
I received this book as a gift from a colleague who knew I was into running. Thank you, Moha!
From backcover: "Born to run is an epic adventure that begins with one simple question: Why does my foot hurt? In search of an answer, Christopher McDougall sets out to find Mexico's Tarahumara Indians, the world's greatest distance runners, who can go for hundreds of miles without rest while enjoying every minute of it."

This is a wonderful read for all but especially for distance runners and other endurance athletes. I enjoyed the race descriptions in particular, McDougall shares the outward details as well as inward details so skilfully. One could feel the morning mist, the noon hot earth and sky, and the willpower to continue no matter what.
Having finished three half marathons I have a very narrow experience on distance jogging (I cannot really say I was running, but took running steps for 3 hours...). This book gave me an opportunity to ponder these questions: What makes you run? How do you make it enjoyable? Does it need to be enjoyable but is pain a part of your running? How can some runners just run for the fun of it? Why Finns are so into distance running?

Sending off to a new reader, Urfin, who gave me a hint of another running book named What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. Added it to my wish list :)

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I am so happy that this book is getting a new reader who appreciates it. I was so surprised and delighted to get this book from a colleague at work so it has a special place in my heart. I hope you enjoy the book as I did.
What a neat little package! It arrived at the weekend. It's so neatly packed I barely dared to open it... Thank you so much for the book! I am looking forward to reading it.
I've finished two marathons (Berlin and London) but that was some years ago. Also, lately I havent been running due to toothache. Only today the dentist finished it's project... and I hope to take it up again and maybe participate in a Volkslauf in autumn.
Thank you also for the bookmarks and the greeting card. You made my day :)
