This book tells the fictionalize account of a former slave posing as a man during the Civil War. Cathy Williams continues her deception post-war when she joins the Buffalo Soldiers to follow the man she loves. Even though it is based on a true story, I wonder where fact and fiction separate. The author stated that there isn’t a lot written about Cathy Williams.

The plot was fairly good , but I felt that is just went on and on and could have ended sooner. This is my first book by this author.
