As fast paced and creepily entertaining as the previous books; with Peter maintaining his inexplicable reputation for building demolition and the rivers creating trouble that is the least of everyone's worries when Lesley and the Faceless Man show up.

Travelling to Nepal - enjoy!

This arrived safely in Nepal with its companion, The Furthest Station. It's been a while since I've entered the world of PC Peter Grant, and I'm looking forward to it - thank you so much, FraukeRo!

As always, I enjoyed catching up with Peter and co, particularly the river goddesses. It has been a while since I've read the previous books in this series, and I'm not sure if I inadvertently missed one, or if it's just been so long that I felt out of touch, but I found it harder to get into this one than I remember with the others. Also, it it just me or does this one feel more unfinished than the others, plot-wise? I know the hunt for the Faceless Man is an arc throughout all the books, but there usually seems more of a story, with resolution, in each book than this one has. Still, a pleasure, as always.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This is a lovely little family-run hotel where I stayed for a few days earlier this month. Since the tagline of this books is "Back in London--Back in Trouble" and I, though not in trouble, was back in London after a gap of many years, it seemed apropos to leave it with the other books and things under the glass table in the reception area.
