The Sense of an Ending

Found the book at the free books' shelf outside Hemköp Torsplan, Stockholm. I read another novel by Julian Barnes last year and it was interesting, so thought I would try this one as well.
I had high expectations, that were only half met. It was a disturbing story in the sense that I identified a lot with the narrator and recognized the behaviour of Veronica from my own social circle, and how frustrating it is when someone talks like I should know certain things without them being spelled out. It was a page turner, though, but a tad weak in the ending, in my opinion.

Safely with me. Thank you so much!
I read one other novel from Julian Barnes. And I get the sense "I don't get it" (Pun intended). Or rather I donät get him. The novel is good, no doubt. Well written and all that but it doesn't really capture me.
