Jakob Beer is seven years old when he is rescued from the muddy ruins of a buried village in Nazi-occupied Poland. Of his family, he is the only one who has survived. Under the guidance of the Greek geologist Athos, Jakob must steel himself to excavate the horrors of his own history. A novel of astounding beauty and wisdom, Fugitive Pieces is a profound meditation on the resilience of the human spirit and love's ability to resurrect even the most damaged of hearts.

Thank you so much for sharing the book with me, a merry Christmas to you too
31 March 22 - It took me a little while to get used to the style of writing, but I did get used it and began to enjoy it. Short bursts that gave a insight in to Jakobs life without getting too in-depth but enough to give you a sense of what is happening. However when we switched to Bens story I started to struggle, it just didn’t hold my attention so we’ll. If nothing else though, this book has given me a longing to go back to Greece.
