At the Edge of the Orchard

(Cover differs from the one shown.)
Bought from a charity shop for £1 for a holiday read.
I really enjoyed this; I’m drawn to novels set in pioneer America and historical fiction or a blend of fact and fiction generally. Chevalier’s writing is always spot on and really well described settings, people and situations.
However I felt the structure of the book went slightly awry; there was much to tell. I wanted what happened after back in Ohio...
The story felt rushed near the end, the pacing wrong - too much in the last quarter and much left unresolved - unless it’s going to have a sequel? Or perhaps it’s more of a positive negative in that I just didn’t want it to end!
