When Eva Mozes Kor and her family arrived at Auschwitz they were immediately separated. Her parents and sisters were taken to the gas chambers while Eva and her twin, Miriam, were herded into the care of Dr Josef Mengele, later to become known as the 'angel of death'. They were 10 years old. At Auschwitz, twins were granted the 'privileges' of keeping their own clothes and hair. But they were also subjected to Mengele's sadistic and dangerous medical experiments. Forced daily to fight for survival, many died as a result of the tests, or from the disease and hunger rife in the camp. A narrative told with beautiful simplicity, emotion and astonishing restrain, The Twins of Auschwitz is the heart-breaking and inspiring true story of a child's endurance in the face of truly extraordinary evil.
