This is one of the books I swapped on Friday in the Linton red telephone box book swap near Wetherby on one of our first drives out into the countryside since the coronovirus lockdown restrictions have been eased slightly.
I chose it because I was recently entertained by The House of Birds and Butterflies by this author and this looks like similar fun, with the added bonus that it'll remind me of our many holidays in the South West, not somewhere we're likely to visit for a long time yet . . .

Disappointing! I was looking forward to a virtual holiday in Cornwall at a time when I'm not leaving the house much but, unfortunately, didn't find Charlie and co the best of travelling companions . . . At 373 pages it was longer than the story warranted and I found myself skipping and skimming my way through much of it . . . OK!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

We had a rural drive out in the sunshine this afternoon, which proved to be a ride in the rain, complete with rolling thunder - but that's another story . . . Anyway, this is one of the books I swapped in a couple of local red telephone box book exchanges.

Nearly two million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over thirteen million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
