Journal Entry 1 by wingtigergirlnzwing from Napier, Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay New Zealand on Sunday, April 26, 2020
The year is 1803. Darcy and Elizabeth have been married for six years, and the orderly world of Pemberley seems unassailable. But all this is threatened when, on the eve of the annual ball, a chaise appears, rocking down the path from Pemberley's wild woodland. As it pulls up, Lydia Wickham - Elizabeth's younger, unreliable sister - stumbles out screaming that her husband has been murdered.

Thanks for the tag. I look forward to reading it. The book took almost two months to get here, not bad considering all the transportation restrictions and delays.

I enjoyed the book, but did not rate it highly because the book failed to measure up to expectations. That is bound to happen when I love Jane Austen and am a big fan of P. D. James and so harboured an unreasonably high expectation of a marriage of the two. James succeeded somewhat in an Austenian style, but the characters did not feel like the ones I know and love. Aside from that, the mystery is a good one.
