It's been four years since I read this but one quick read of the blurb and I remember what happens - not completely - but almost enough.

Slappy appears in a lot of Goosebumps books, and I'm not surprised because Slappy is a brilliant character, so I'm glad R.L. Stine create Slappy stories. Unfortunately, I've read many of the newer Slappy stories so it wasn't really a surprise when I started reading this one - which I think is the first Slappy book. It's clever and twisty, but I was more developed into the puppet characterisation than the twin sisters in this story, which makes the book kind of a disconnect.

Blurb: Lindy can't get over finding a ventriloquist's dummy in her neighbourhood skip. Cool! Lindy names him Slappy. She's going to learn how to make Slappy move and talk. Her twin sister, Kris, will be so jealous.

Then Kris gets a dummy of her own, and that's when all the trouble starts. Weird things start to happen, nasty things. It seems as if Kris's dummy is making them happen.

But a dummy can't be causing all that trouble...can it?
