Finally, a Goosebumps book I actually enjoyed, for a change. I've read so many of these and not felt like loving the story, but this is one that I really got into for some reason... Maybe I was just really feeling a Goosebumps book this time around?
It did kind of start off similar to "Let's Get Invisible", since the mirror in that story was in the attic, and the piano that features in this story is found in the attic, but I guess it's impossible not to have some stories that are similar in some way within this series. But they soon bring the piano downstairs, which then removes all similarities.
The piano has a ghost attached to it which warns our main character about playing the piano. He gets piano lessons from Dr Shreek, but he's a bit of a maniac and someone in school suggests that learning from Dr Shreek is not a good idea. What is really going on? Jerry isn't ready to find out.
For some reason, I found Jerry really relatable, and that's what really drew me into the story. It was also not so far-fetched as the other Goosebumps books I have read, so it was a nice change and had this real concept around it which really makes it work.
Blurb: Jerry's all set for piano lessons, especially now he's got his own piano to practise on. But now he's met Dr Shreek, his piano teacher, he's not so sure...
Dr Shreek looks harmless, but there's something really weird about him that Jerry can't quite put his finger on. He gives Jerry the creeps...
And then Jerry hears the stories about Dr Shreek's other pupils...who went for a lesson, and were never seen again. But those stories can't really be true...can they?
