First in a new series by an author I have always enjoyed. Bought second hand and delivered to France.

Hunter has been a long time favorite of mine, so I tend to save up her books to read when I need something to pick me up or something I can dive into and ignore the rest of what is going on around me.
There's nothing particularly dramatic happening per se (although I could easily tot up a list of low level irritations and discomforts, starting with the pandemic and the increasing number of friends and family affected - fortunately no one hospitalized and almost all double vaxed and boosted, and then dawdling on with trivial things like weather and homesickness).
Anyway, I am in definitely in the mood for a good historical romance, and Hunter has yet again delivered.
The hero / heroine pair is satisfyingly full of sparks, and the background plot is equally pleasingly unpredictable, up until the last minute.
Excellent read.
