Interesting read.

I really like James McBride so I appreciate his writing. I found it interesting that he created a setting in Italy for these main characters. And I thought he was effectively able to weave the social narrative around war and race in World War II. The religious undertones and the almost mystic events that occurred added additional intrigue for me. and some of the chapters, my bride was given the opportunity to create poetic narratives from the characters.
