Got this used on eBay as it has been on my wish list for a while. Plan to read and release.
This book was very strange. It was so atmospheric and emotional at times. The parts set during World War I were well written. But the whole time I was thinking where is this book going? Although it was obvious that the characters were left broken by the war, somehow they felt flat and were uninteresting. What did they want out of lif? I think there was too much left unsaid by the author. I really wanted the book to go somewhere more interesting but it just didn’t. As I was reading I sensed the disaster that was looming. Very sad.
Packing up to post off to a BookCrosser. Safe travels little book. Hope you delight your next reader, and beyond?….
Thanks for the RABCK Shahrun :) I’ve read the Siege (I was going to say fairly recently but my spreadsheet says 2016!) so it will be interesting to see how this one compares.
Not sure if Shahrun managed my expectations with her comments but I enjoyed this one a bit more.
Off to find dsc’s LFL in Chester to release this book.
