Africville, a small Nova Scotia town settled in the 1800s by former slaves, is the inspiration for this rich and unforgettable debut that chronicles three generations of the Sebolt family - Kath Ella, her son Etienne ("little Omar"), and her grandson Warner - whose lives unfold against the tumultuous events of the twentieth century.
