I got this fair-condition softcover from an online seller. I'm fond of "giant creature" tales in film and literature, and couldn't resist this anthology.
Later: Lots of fun stories here! Among my favorites:
Steve Alten's "Lost in Time" is a tale of vengeance over romance gone wrong - combined with greed, and the rumors of treasure hidden in a deep sinkhole. The giant creature here is a somewhat unusual variant on the theme, but it certainly has good timing!
"Attack of the 500-foot Porn Star" by Steven L. Shrewsbury, which would rate a mention for the title alone, but which adds a lot of dark humor to its mad-scientist story.
"Whatever Became of Randy" by James A. Moore deals with a virulent cancer that mutates into something immense - and that spreads as aggressively at the macro level as the micro.
Evan Dicken's "Extinction", in an alternate Middle Ages where battles between giant armored/mechanized beasts are a feature of society.
"The Big Bite" by Jeff Strand, which posits a 65-foot-tall vampire (!). As the narrator notes, once a vampire reaches the size where it can hurl your car around, blood-sucking is the least of your worries...
"Six-legged Shadows" by David Conyers and Brian M. Sammons, perhaps my favorite story here, with a delightful twist. Spacefaring humans return to Earth millennia after leaving it in a dying state, to find it apparently lush and completely rejuvenated - until they land in the green meadows of Australia and find giant ants, and worse...
And then there's "The Island of Dr. Otaku" by Cody Goodfellow, which posits nano-tech, extreme fandom, and sentient cities that rise and walk!
Other stories feature such foes as giant lice in the trenches of WWI, immense snapping turtles in Maine, a humongous creature that excretes gold, and more.

I am not a fan of the BCID# (I'm a little superstitious), so I will release this book back into the box.

Keeping this as part of emmejo’s Otherworldly Bookbox. Can’t wait to read it!
Have a feeling one of the teenagers "might" grab this book. It could end up at the local high school as they tend to leave Bookcrossing books behind when they have finished them.

This book was easy to read over time as each chapter was a different short story.
My favorites were:
* Present Tense, Future Imperfect
* The Locusts Have a King
* Six-Legged Shadows
