Journal Entry 3 by Sherlockfan at Upper Hutt, Wellington Province New Zealand on Sunday, December 8, 2019
I have recently received this book through the mail via Fishpond. So far I have read 62 pages out of 264 pages and am enjoying it immensely. Maurice Gee, a celebrated New Zealand writer, has been much acclaimed over the years and I note that on the cover there is a comment from Ian Richards through the Listener “This may be Maurice Gee’s best ever.”
Oddly enough, one night this week when I was wide awake and catching up to items that I’d not heard earlier on my trusty bedside radio there was a noted commenter on the book scene who reacted to reader’s requests for good books to read. He spoke at length about Sci-fi, fantasy books and similar genre that do not interest me at all and I nearly tuned out when suddenly he mentioned Maurice Gee and enthused mightily about Gee’s Live Bodies and then as he was closing he went on to talk about Sherlock Holmes all of whose titles he obviously revered. Satisfied at last by that commenter I turned out the light well pleased. Given my BC name of “ Sherlockfan “ how could I not be delighted.
I had “Live Bodies” on my Wishlist for ages and must thank tigergirlnz most sincerely for finding this for me".
With a life filled still with the minutiae of moving house, decluttering, and getting used to new situations it is wonderful to have such a good writer and such an interesting book to look forward to each night.
Thanks so much tigergirlnz.
