I loved this telling of Circe's story. It was just as good as the Song of Achilles by the same author. I've purchased this for a secret purpose!
And off it goes to my EU Secret Santa partner. Happy reading!
Thank you so much for this book and all the others goodies!
It was a good book, but I was expecting more of this story.
And now the book is going to travel again for my Virtual BookBoxRing.

It has arrived, thank you, MargaridaPires!
After all the praise this book has received, I was a bit afraid my expectations would be too high and I would end up disappointed. Not in the least! This is a fascinating retelling of various Greek myths, as told from the perspective of Circe, a minor goddess, renowned for her knowledge of potions and herbs, in other words: a witch.
I am giving it 9 stars, the missing one is just because I felt that here and there (especially during Telegonus childhood), the narrative dragged a little. Other than that, this book is a joy to read. You don’t need to know the Greek myths to enjoy it, because Miller gives the reader the necessary context, naturally interwoven with the story. But if you know a bit, or if you research it, you will find that she has been true to the myths (or to one of its versions, as sometimes there is more than one) and then has expanded the story, inventing where there is a void, in a way that feels very credible.
In a nutshell, a beautifully written book that reads very fast, has moments of humour (I loved the way Hermes was depicted!) while touching important issues, including women’s lives in a world ruled by men, loneliness, mortality and fate versus free will.
Thank you for sharing, MargariaPires and bookfrogster!
I am keeping it reserved for a while because I think my younger daughter might like to read it. After that, I will put it as available.

This book went for a stroll with my neighbour irus.
It's with me now.
Being fascinated by the Greek myths, this book was really enjoyable in the way its depicts the gods (greater and lesser ones), with all their flaws and fragilities.
This saga offer another approach to Circe, and one can not but empathize with her fate as a lonely woman. It also shows the "after" of Odysseus arrival to Ithaca, revealing the true colors of a well known hero.
Thanks Pequete, I really enjoyed it. It will go back to you as soon as we meet - hopefully this very week.

It's with me again, actually since many months ago, but I somehow forgot to write a JE. Thanks for the reminder, irus ;)
It is now available, maybe it will find its way into someone's bookshelf in this year's Christmas exchange...
