It's difficult to review this book. On one hand it's taken as read that Douglas Coupland is a bleak author - Vancouver always seems to be quite a depressing place after he's finished writing about it - but his writing style is excellent as when you're used to the usual beginning/middle/end style it comes as a bit of a shock that details that other writers would use as major plot events he just drops into the story as if they were just asides.
The story itself is interesting, but you don't really understand why the main character did what he did to his girlfriend and that, to me, spoils the book as it changes your expectation of the story without really explaning why.
Still, it wouldn't put me off reading more Douglas Coupland books.
Updated 27 September: On its way to pasquinade after spotting it on his wishlist.

RABCK by mail from Gothmarcus. Thanks. I love Coupland other books, so hopefully it won't be too long before I can start this one and move it along.
