The book is very well done, avoids being preachy, maudlin, boring. It is amusing, although it tackles such heavyweight topics as domestic violence, single parenting, date violence, bullying and raising a teenager. The portrait of early education; the staff, the rules, the parents and the kids rings true and made me laugh, and shudder. It is just quite good all around. Also, the Pirriwee Peninsula sounded like such an amazing place I was disappointed to find out it isn't a real place. The book made it so real.
