Such an interesting book - the author is a Western journalist but very much premises his book on the words of the African people he meets and interviews, travelling the length and breadth of sub-Saharan Africa. Fascinating, inspiring, terrifying - a book that show you how much you really don't know, whether it's the drugs trade, technology, climate change or religion. Very useful background reading for me on the current situation in the Middle East as well. My own complaint is that it's now a couple of years old and perhaps slightly out of date - a second edition would be wonderful.
