New York Times bestselling author Peter Robinson brings back Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks and his colleague DI Annie Cabbot in a case riddled with corruption.
A decorated policeman is murdered on the tranquil grounds of the St. Peter's Police Treatment Centre, shot through the heart with a crossbow arrow, and compromising photographs are discovered in his room.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks is well aware that he must handle the highly sensitive and dangerously explosive investigation with the utmost discretion. And as he digs deeper, he discovers that the murder may be linked to an unsolved missing persons case from six years earlier—and the current crime may involve some very bad, crooked cops.
A pulsating, electrifying novel of suspense Watching the Dark is one of Peter Robinson’s finest novels.
---
This was very good, again, and especially interesting for me, as part of it happened in Tallinn, which is quite familiar town for me, and I could imagine the places Banks went.

Thank you a lot!
After I got a DCI Banks book for Christmas and liked it a lot, I am now trying to get the rest of them together to read them all (in order... #20).
(reserved for Cross-patch when I´ve read it)

I´ve spent Covid-lockdown (knock down as I recently misheard) with Inspector Banks and have now reached #20...
I have never been to Talinn, but liked the change of scenes a lot. Sadly there was not much music in this one - I started to listen to the music mentioned in the books on youtube while I read on. Actually I found a vinyl/CD shop nearby which sells a lot of stuff I have never heard of, but which also gets you whatever music you´re interested in and got Laura Marling´s CDs there as they are mentioned in some of the earlier books.
I liked the story of this book, but one thing sounded a bit strange to me: not that I am an expert on Russian mafia (thank god) but it rather sounds strange they would frown upon rape. But who knows.
