"A self-help manuscript lands on the desk of Edwin de Valu, an overworked, underpaid editor, and he immediately dismisses it. Its an oddly jumbled book, one that promises to help readers lose weight, stop smoking find inner peace and achieve true happiness. Yeah, right. However, before he knows it, What I Learned on the Mountain is published and Edwin is caught up in the plague of happiness TM that ensues."

This is one of the few Bay basement bargain books that I have actually enjoyed to the point of reading it over twice. Requires a healthy dose of sarcastism. I am offering this up as my end of winter term bookray!

What a great book! I thought it was wonderfully written and LOL funny at points. My favorite was the fried pork diet book. Hilarious!

Sending to eriko1908 - next in line.

This one was waiting for me at work this morning when I made it in...will start on it tonight! :o) Yea!

We need our vices. We need our cotton-candy fluff, because life is sad and short and over far too soon. Why do we spen so much time tinkering with our identities? Why are we so captivated with trivialities? Because these small, petty things are so important. So essential. It isn't ultimate happiness that makes life worth living, it's the silly little details along the way. ~~ page 239-240

I agree that this one was a funny read...slightly scary it it's own way too...kind of left me with a "what-if" feeling.

Okay...here is the part I don't want to admit...I mean I am not into animal cruelty at all...but I laughed SO hard when reading how Edwin was treating Jenni's cat!!!

The pursuit of happiness. Not happiness. The pursuit. ~~ page 326

Mailing this on to out-and-about first thing on Monday morning. Hope everybody else enjoys!!

It is feast time!!! This is the second bookring/ray I have received in the past week, not to mention the one I am currently reading. I will read this once i finish the other two. I should be finished with it within a month - hopefully :) I will keep you updated if there is a longer delay :)

Finally got this this book in my TBR pile of bookrings and rays. Unfortunately, I am having a tough time getting into it - not because it doesn't appeal to me, but rather becasue I have 3 bookrings/ray waiting TBR after this one. Those 3 TBR bookrings/rays are very appealing to me and it is dampering my reading of this book.

Since I have had it over a month and there is a rather long list of other BCers after me, I am going to release this book without reading it. With any luck the orginator can move me to the bottom of the list so that I do get a chance to read it later and when it does come back around to me I will not feel pressured to read it without enjoying it.

This book will be in on its way to the next person as soon as I get an address.

RELEASE NOTES:

Finally getting around to sending this off to the next person on the list - sorry I had it so long. I had several books in front of it and then when I finally decided to skip reading it right now and be moved to the bottom of the list my life got so swamped that I couldn't get it packaged and mailed until now.

Enjoy :)

Just got it from Booknhand. I managed to remember it's a ray, so I started on it immediately. So far, it's captivating and fun! I'll write some more when I'm through it.

I loved it! Well-written and with some good humour. In a way it's scary, since I can almost see it happen (OK, maybe not the whole Tupak-mania, but the loss of drive and the subsequent disintegration of society, well, yes). But it's fiction, isn't it? And a good read at that!

It's going on to grover3d in the weekend. Hope s/he injoyes it!

BTW: did anyone else notice a striking similarity between Edwin and Arthur Dent (from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)? I don't mean in looks (although I cannot recollect how Arthur Dent is described to look like), but in the fact that they're both the most unlikely protagonists ever! Just thought I'd mention it...

As I'll send out the book tomorrow, I'll declare it travelling already. On to the next stop!

One of those books you read in one sitting, and very clever and witty. Quite enjoyable - thanks for sharing it!
