Probably the most famous Sherlock story, but despite knowing the story well, I enjoyed reading it for the first time. A country family seemingly haunted by a demonic dog, which causes the death of the current Lord and threatens the life of the new heir. Holmes sends Watson into the country to protect the family, but with escaped convicts, mysterious lights, howls on the wind and the strange actions of the neighbours, it looks like the devil himself is behind the deaths.
