This paperback was given to me unregistered by my friend Snoopy56 when we met for lunch today. She had previously tried to register it without success as the site wasn't working properly but was happy for me to do the registering of it.
It tells the story of a father and son in a burned-out America, attempting to survive in a "brave new world". 'An exemplar of post-apocalyptic writing'.

REVIEW:- "I found this book very well-written but at the same time very harrowing and horrific at times. The author made me feel that I was with him and his son as they trudged along "the road" searching for food and shelter. Although the story was fairly repetitious it didn't get boring and I applauded the (un-named) father for his resilience and resourcefulness in meeting their needs I think the author very well described what would probably happen if such a disastrous happening should ever take place in the world. I thought the book had a fairly satisfactory ending but I would have liked to know a bit more about how things progressed for "the boy".
Reserved for another bookcrosser.

When re-releasing this book please be aware that airports are not a good place to leave books unless they have a specific book exchange shelf or area, due to security problems, so they may well just be disposed of. Also charity shops may well discard books that have been labelled in any way and they mostly chose only the books in the very best condition
to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.

Arrived safely along with its friends. I'm unsure as to whether or not I've already read it. I will have to check before I tackle it. Many thanks for sharing.

This is a book that I'm struggling to rate. On one hand I felt that is was overly long and in need of some serious editing. The Man and the Boy are on the verge of starvation just before stumbling on a hidden cache of food a few times too many and they have too many meetings with 'the bad guys' than I felt was strictly necessary. But I also admire the author's writing style and feel that it conveys a very powerful and moving message. I believe that readers will relate to the Man's will to survive against the odds for as long as possible so as to ensure that his son has a future.

I've received this book, along with a delightful postcard, from the website bookmooch. I've a friend that always recommends Cormac McCarthy's books so I'm excited to get stuck into it. I think I've seen the film adaptation but not wholly convinced. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts soon.
