I was so looking forward to reading this book as am very interested in hoarding and its underlying causes. I’m a bit of a hoarder myself!
The story is about an elderly recluse Gloria, who is visited infrequently by her only son Clegg and her vagrant friend Tilsbury. Her home is inhabitable due to her hoarding obsession, then an electrical fault prompts her to move out which leads Gloria to re-evaluate her life and go on a series of ‘adventures’.
The book started well but quickly became cliched and unrealistic. I don’t think that a persons need to hoard can be ‘cured’ quite so quickly and easily.
The characters are quite predictable and their dialogue is simple and repetitive. Overall a lightweight read.
