Picked up from the Lions Charity book shop in Darlington for holiday reading

An interesting read as I haven’t come across any tales from this area before. The family trees take some getting used to but the author goes to some length to unpick them. I lost the train of the plot as the letter seemed to take less and less significance as the book progressed. It’s a beautifully written saga of these women living in a world barely recognisable now.
