I have enjoyed every steampunk book I've read by Cherie Priest, and she is an author who has a real talent for characters and settings. Unfortunately, I don't think this particular work is her best. It is still really good! But the pacing and tonal shift to a political/spy-thriller plot don't quite make it successfully, and this book doesn't center around any of her most memorable characters. The end result is a one-time read for me, rather than a book I think I could re-read and re-read, like most of her steampunk tales.
Still, I'm hoping it will entertain some other readers, or inspire them to check out Priest's other work!
(Note: Ex-library book with typical markings.)

Added to the sci-fi bookbox
Selected from the SciFi bookbox. I have read and enjoyed the first three in this series, so I could not resist this one. Of course I will have to get book #4 before I read this one.
