The Doll House
by Phoebe Morgan
You never know who’s watching…
Corinne’s life might look perfect on the outside, but after three failed IVF attempts it’s her last chance to have a baby. And when she finds a tiny part of a doll house outside her flat, it feels as if it’s a sign.
But as more pieces begin to turn up, Corinne realises that they are far too familiar. Someone knows about the miniature rocking horse and the little doll with its red velvet dress. Someone has been inside her house…
How does the stranger know so much about her life? How long have they been watching? And what are they waiting for…?

This was a pretty good psychological thriller about two sisters. Corinne and Ashley seem to have had a perfect upbringing with a loving father who gave them all that they could ever want. One of their prized possessions was a large doll house that their father made to correspond to the house they grew up in. Their father was an architect and was very good at making such things. But then as adults, things don't always seems as idyllic. Corinne is trying desperately to have a baby with her significant other, Dominic, and the couple finally resorts to IVF. But then Corinne starts finding pieces of the old doll house including a chimney, front door, and rocking horse. But where did these pieces come from and what ever happened to the old doll house? Then Ashley, who has three children, starts to suspect her husband James is having an affair. And out of the blue her 15-year old daughter starts acting up by drinking and fighting with her parents. Then there is a mysterious person who has been watching the two sisters since childhood. So who is this person and what are her motivations?
The novel had a few twists to the story and there were some red herrings thrown in to make the reader really question what is going on. But I think I had it figured out about 2/3 through the story. Overall, I would mildly recommend this one.

I apologise that it appears I never recorded this as received.
Plucked it off Mt TBR this afternoon.

A fast paced read with some predictable twists, but nonetheless an engaging plot which held my attention throughout.
Took advantage of the Australian Post system (whilst I was in the country for a few days attending a funeral) to mail this one off as a Wishlist Tag.
