Saw this one in a thrift store in Boise and knew it was on a few Aussie BCers Wishlists, and that I was coming over. Added this one to my luggage and will find it a good home.
About the Book:
College student Joe Talbert has the modest goal of completing a writing assignment for an English class. His task is to interview a stranger and write a brief biography of the person. With deadlines looming, Joe heads to a nearby nursing home to find a willing subject. There he meets Carl Iverson, and soon nothing in Joe's life is ever the same. Carl is a dying Vietnam veteran-and a convicted murderer. With only a few months to live, he has been medically paroled to a nursing home after spending thirty years in prison for the crimes of rape and murder.
As Joe writes about Carl's life, especially Carl's valor in Vietnam, he cannot reconcile the heroism of the soldier with the despicable acts of the convict. Aided by his skeptical neighbor, Lila, Joe throws himself into uncovering the truth. Thread by thread, he begins to unravel the tapestry of Carl's conviction. But as he and Lila dig deeper into the circumstances of the crime, the stakes grow higher. Will Joe discover the truth before it's too late to escape the fallout?
My Review:
A good mystery, "who-dunnit" novel which had a very interesting plot. Found this had great pace and some good twists and turns along the way.
A little too neat a wrap up of the ending, which was the only thing that let it down really. Interested to read book #2 in the series.

This one has finally set off in a package of very overdue owed Wishlist Tag books.
Thank you for the wishlist tag. Not too overdue and I have tons to read while waiting.
Agreed with everything J4Shaw said. Nothing to add except that I enjoyed it very much and would love to read other books by the author.
A very belated birthday gift by the time this reaches the birthday girl. Happy birthday!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. 8)
