I really enjoyed these stories and their explanatory essays. I liked trying to guess which scientific concept was featured in each one. I got Dunbar's Number and the invention of algebra right, not sure about the others.
I think I first found out about this book on the Bookshambles podcast with Robin Ince and Josie Long. It definitely seems to be up their street anyway.
